1987-1990
1987
- Began the process for establishing the first shelter for street children in Baguio City, Philippines. Funded in April 1988.
- Blessed land for our community development project in Wai‘anae, Hawai‘i, including land loaned for the Weinberg Homeless Village.

In October 1987, Child and Family Service Philippines was founded. That same year,
CFSPI opened its first program, the Consuelo Zobel Alger Home, a residential center for street children in Baguio City.
1988
- Consuelo Zobel Alger Foundation (CZAF) incorporated in Honolulu, Hawai‘i.
- Consuelo Zobel Alger elected as first Chair of the Board of Directors.
1989
- Foundation received tax-exempt status as a 501 c (3) operating foundation.
- Purchased a shelter for the Baguio City street children.
1990
- Patti J. Lyons appointed the Foundation’s first President and CEO.
- Founder, benefactress Consuelo Zobel Alger passed away.
- Purchased Chinatown building in Honolulu for Foundation’s future Headquarters.
- Funds committed to self-help housing project in Wai‘anae, Oah‘u, the Foundation’s first operating project in Hawai‘i.
- Consuelo Zobel Alger Home for Children in Hawai‘i funded.
- Assisted in earthquake relief in Baguio City.
