Giving Hope
Consuelo’s foundation, now celebrating 20 years of giving hope, continues to fulfill her dream and desire to serve the neediest children, women and families, and the poorest of the poor. “For it is those who have no hope,” said Consuelo.

She outlined her most significant concerns: foremost, to prevent and ameliorate sexual abuse and exploitation of children and women. She wanted “to make it possible for abused and neglected children to have a permanent and loving home.”

Her other significant concerns were: homelessness, lack of income generating skills, lack of self-help skills, and lack of access to medical, dental and social services. Consuelo believed that providing assistance would help lead to self-sufficiency.

As Consuelo’s foundation continues its mission to renew hope for those who have lost it and give hope to those who never had it, Consuelo’s words provide guidance: “Hope is so important to each of us.” In asking what it should do, Consuelo’s answer was “whichever is the greatest need.” When asked up to what point help should be provided, her response was “until the need is filled.”

Children and the Poor
In her lifetime, Consuelo did not have any children but felt that all the children served by the Foundation were indeed her children. In her memory, Consuelo Foundation embraces her sentiment

Another belief that inspired Consuelo, taken from the Gospel of St. Matthew is, "Inasmuch as you have done it unto the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me.” Her foundation believes in the importance of caring and nurturing by individuals and communities for each other and their environment.
