Consuelo Foundation welcomes your interest.

We are a private, nonprofit operating foundation and not a grantmaking organization. Our Foundation was established under U.S. law and operates programs either directly with its own staff or by contracting other nonprofit or nongovernmental organization in close partnership.

Our headquarters are located in Honolulu. Our Philippine operation is managed from the Citibank Tower Building in Makati, Manila.

We don’t solicit contributions for our programs and operations, nor do we consider unsolicited requests for grants from individuals or organizations. We aren’t government-funded either.

Our benefactress Consuelo Zobel Alger left very explicit instructions on how she wanted her legacy honored and respected. Most important to her, she did not want the vision and mission of other organizations imposed upon her Foundation.

Funding decisions are guided by a strategic plan, thoughtfully adopted by our Board of Directors; responsible for implementing the plan is our CEO. The plan is an interpretation of Consuelo’s wishes that she wrote and personally spoke. Although it is broad in content, there are specific guidelines and criteria that guide our work.
