Hawaii Initiatives & Partnerships

Board of Directors’ Strategic Plan (2007 to 2010)

Consuelo Zobel Alger’s expressed desire was that we serve those with the greatest need.

Goals
Programs and initiatives in Hawai‘i and the Philippines are created, selected and guided by Consuelo Foundation goals that overarch all of its objectives and activities:
  • To reduce the incidence of abuse, exploitation and neglect of women and children in the beneficiary population.
  • To promote recovery and reintegration of women and children survivors of abuse, exploitation and neglect in the
    beneficiary population.
  • To improve the living conditions of abused, exploited, neglected and differently-abled women and children and those at risk.
  • To promote reproductive health and
    family planning.

Strategies
We use the following to achieve our goals:
  • Enhance the quality of social services, program sustainability, and leadership development for the Foundation and its partners.
  • Strengthen organizational capacity, both Consuelo Foundation’s and partners’, to pursue our missions effectively and efficiently.
  • Assist partners in the use of progressive technology, including Management Information Systems, technology training, and projects such as: Electronic or E-Skills, 5 E’s (Educate, Enable, Energize, and Employ the
    Out-of-School Youth Through E-Learning), etc.
  • Promote research, evaluation and integration of best and promising practices.
  • Create a learning community both internally and externally among the Board of Directors, staff, partners and other organizations between both Hawai‘i and the Philippines.

Framework
Through direct services and by creating effective partnerships, the Foundation provides support for developing, evaluating, refining, and replicating effective, innovative program models.

In Hawai‘i and the Philippines, Consuelo Foundation seeks and operates programs that have the potential to effectively engage and retain families in services by using models that are culturally grounded and that use experiential and/or metaphoric methodologies.

Additionally, programs foster the use of best practices and strive to improve the quality of services provided through our partners in the human service sector.

The Foundation supports our partners' capacity to provide quality services, establish baseline data on program engagement and retention, and develop program outcomes and an evaluation framework.

In the next few years to come, we will initiate program evaluation and document models for subsequent replication and training.
