Spirituality
We believe in a power higher than ourselves, in miracles rather than coincidences, and that Consuelo's spirit remains with us in all that we do.  We share her conviction that what matters in life is not great deeds, but great love.  We commit to helping her to fulfill her wish, inspired by St. Therese of the Child Jesus, to spend her heaven doing good on earth by letting "fall from Heaven a Shower of Roses."

Spirituallity
Individual Worth
We believe in the inherent right of every individual to self-respect, dignity and self-esteem.  We acknowledge that each person is a unique human being with pride, needs, values and innate worth.  We work with a rich, diverse mixture of people; we honor that diversity and respect their right for equal opportunity and self-determination.

Individual Worth
Caring and Nurturing
We believe, as described in the Gospel of St. Matthew, that, "Inasmuch as you have done it unto the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me."  We affirm the importance of caring and nurturing by individuals and communities for each other and our environment.

Caring
Reciprocity
We believe that hope is nurtured when partners and beneficiaries share with and give to others the gifts they have received.

Creativity and Reciprocity
We believe that change is inevitable and challenges us to be creative and innovative in problem solving.

Innovation
We believe in the development and application of preventive programs to alleviate future abuse and exploitation while recognizing that sometimes we will need to address existing conditions as part of that process.

Innovation
Philippine and Hawai‘i Connectedness
We believe in the synergy of the cultural and historical ties between Hawai‘i and the Philippines, and will nurture its application in the development of our programs.

Connections

Since 1988, Consuelo Foundation has given hope to thousands of women and children in the Philippines and Hawai‘iwhere none existed before. Through the extraordinary grace and generosity of its founder, Consuelo Zobel Alger, the Consuelo Foundation has supported a wide range of child abuse prevention, family strengthening, juvenile justice, youth development, education and affordable housing programs. The board of directors and staff of Consuelo Foundation are very privileged to carry out the vision of its founder through a number of programmatic and organizational capacity building activities. Through its extensive and growing partner network, Consuelo Foundation strives on a daily basis to deliver on the legacy of Consuelo Zobel Alger, inspired by the words of St. Therese of the Child Jesus who said, “What matters in life is not great deeds but great love.”

Consuelo Foundation has a well-deserved reputation as a responsible and ethical philanthropic global institution. Its staff and directors are proud to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the highest ethical standards. The Consuelo Foundation Code of Conduct guides its directors, officers and staff in the performance of their duties and the operations of Consuelo Foundation as set forth in a variety of policies and procedures. Consuelo Foundation takes seriously its public purpose and tax-exempt status which includes an obligation to maintain the public’s trust. Its staff and directors understand that any shortfall in deviating from the standards of good conduct it has established would undermine the reputation of Consuelo Foundation, its grantees and the field of philanthropy. Activities undertaken are exclusively in the furtherance of Consuelo Foundation’s charitable purpose and are conducted with objectivity and integrity.
